Gerald's Commitments

Committed to working with the Metis Nation – Saskatchewan and the Northwest Saskatchewan Metis Council on the Land Claim Court Action launched in NorthWest Saskatchewan on behalf of the citizens of the Metis Nation - Saskatchewan

Ensure we develop, in consultation with our people, health strategies to maintain and improve the health and well-being of our citizens, families and communities

Committed to Constitutional, Legislative reform and Good Governance – including the re-establishment of a judicial arm of the Metis Nation – Saskatchewan

Ensure our people get access to much needed health care programs and services

Committed to a province wide Harvesting Agreement, working through The Metis Wildlife and Conservation Act, 1994

We need to address, on a priority basis, social/economic issues affecting our people such as; homelessness, mental health and addictions, high rates of HIV, the current drug crisis, high incarceration rates among Indigenous people, reuniting our families and high rates of our children coming into care

Committed to ensuring inclusion of all citizens of our Nation, including women, youth and elders - working closely with the women and youth councils of the Metis Nation - Saskatchewan

We must work with Elders to promote our Michif language. Our Elders and knowledge keepers play an important role in educating and passing on teachings to our young people and newcomers to our Nation

Promoting the protection of our environment and the diversity of animals, fish, birds and plants – advocating for the inclusion of traditional knowledge in all decision making processes

“Throughout my years in the front lines of the Métis Nationalist Movement, I have fought to protect and promote the rights, interests and aspirations of the Métis Nation and its citizens"
